Calzone posted about these late last week, I decided to get myself a couple as well!

Kinja'd!!!

Can't wait to play Mario Cart and such with friends! I maybe end getting more than just 2, haha. What if we want to do 4way multiplayer??

Was playing Zelda last night and it got highly frustrating w/o a proper controller.

I've downloaded Project64 and Super Mario 64, Paper Mario and Blast Corps. I have learned that it is hard to play these games with a keyboard. My boy (4) is totally into watching my play Paper Mario. He gets upset if I don't read all the conversations to him.

Also I forgot about Turok that was the shit.

Was playing that a little bit last night too! Also Perfect Dark! Because laptop gun. Any other games I should be getting?

I use a 360 controller, works fine. Though I do have a working N64 in my closet; it's just... the controllers have gotten old and the buttons aren't as great as they used to be.

I never owned an N64. The only game I could possibly tolerate on a retro controller like that would be Golden Eye. Not even Mario Kart. Now if you want to go real old school and have an SNES retro controller then Street Fighter II? or is it IV? I think II.

Oh. Star Fox?

Star Wars Rogue Squadron?

...has not aged gracefully. I have big, rose tinted Nostalgia goggles as much as the next guy, but playing Goldeneye after all these years is just painful. FPS without twin sticks is just rubbish on a console.

Is this just for nostalgia? I always hated the N64 controller and I only use it when playing on an actual N64...but I think the analog sticks on all but when of mine are loose now. When emulating I use the 360 controller or SNES.

Honestly playing an FPS without a mouse and keyboard is rubbish so meh.

I was thinking about how awkward the N64 control was, yet how no one cared at the time. You have a whole left side of the controller that is never used, and a ton of buttons used by the right thumb, it was definitely interesting.

Yeah, that's why I really like being able to get a brand new one for $13, I read they aren't as high quality as the old ones, but compared to a ratty old one, this will be nice.

I do have a star fox game on my computer right now, not sure which one, haven't played yet.

I remember star fox on SNES being awesome.

Snes is actually tolerable on a regular keyboard.

The thought of suggesting the original or 2 crossed my mind, but I enjoyed that on a Sega Genesis myself.

Lol, it's hilarious they thought it would be good to essentially have 3 d-pads.

I'm going for an authentic experience here :P And after all, these games were designed with this controller in mind and there is no controller out there quite like this one.

Kinja'd!!! Yowen - not necessarily not spaghetti and meatballs > tromoly

First off which zelda were you playing? Ocarina of Time or Majora's Mask?

second go get Donkey Kong 64, 1080 snowboarding., Mario Kart 64, San Francisco Rush, Star Wars Episode 1 Pod Racer, and bomberman can be fun (especially with a group).

Goldeneye is THE SHIT but you know that already as well as perfect dark. The recommendation of Rogue Squadron is a an intelligent one.

Yeah, I had the Sega Megadrive, I played the shit out of mortal kombat and virtua fighter on that.

OMG YES! 1080 Snowboarding is a great idea. I think i was playing Ocarina of Time, whichever one starts with the Deku tree stuff.

I have DK and Mario Kart. Will definitely check out the others.

I'm surprised no-one ever continued the perfect dark series. I remember at the time of its release that game was a huge deal. There are a lot of cool things they could've done with it. It had some awesome features like the laptop gun and the thermal imaging gun. Wasn't there also a rocket launcher that you could fly by wire?

Kinja'd!!! MontegoMan562 is a Capri RS Owner > Yowen - not necessarily not spaghetti and meatballs
03/25/2014 at 11:21

Kinja'd!!!0

yes there was!

I actually emailed back and forth with Nintendo when the GameCube came out and was like if you're releasing Perfect Dark on GC tell me NOW so I will buy the GC instead of an xbox. They said yes we are! I got screwed. There was a follow up released on xbox 360 tho, it was pretty fun but mainly a flop. see:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perfect_D…

As for Zelda, Deku tree is Ocarina of Time, the most legendary video game EVER CREATED. Majora's Mask is cool too, just not as good. Worth the play time tho.

Yes, but in Goldeneye you can't move your aimer around without standing still. The advent of the twin stick design for FPS on consoles has made all previous FPS experiences age...rather ungracefully - to put it mildly.

Oh and bummer as far as Perfect Dark, there was real potential there to create a long-running series of awesome games, but I guess every James Bond game after Goldeneye was a flop as well :(

I had a 007 game on GameCube that was fantastically ridiculous. It had a grappling hook you could shoot out in multi player, basically made for spider man style james bond games. Flew all over the level never touching the ground.

I actually loved it about as much as Goldeneye

Nice. I've got a USB PS2 style controller. It works for N64 games, you just have to program the right joystick to act as the yellow C buttons.

Ah got ya. It seems any controller aside from a keyboard really does the trick. As long as it has at least one stick on it and some trigger buttons on the back.

Ugh. I hated that game. I found a 5gb torrent of games, but since that is my monthly data allowance I'm going to have to stretch it out over a longer period. Luckily there's no TGUK

Kinja'd!!! Yowen - not necessarily not spaghetti and meatballs > CalzoneGolem
03/25/2014 at 15:06

Kinja'd!!!0

Haha yeah, I wish that the torrent weren't a compressed file (I found the same one)! Otherwise you can select which individual files you want to download!

I imagine they were having problems with not having enough seeders since everyone was only getting the specific games they want.

I don't have any data limits to worry about if I can somehow help out? Haha. Maybe I can upload the games you really want somewhere?

I haven't looked for anything and not found it. I'd just want to play a bunch of random games.
